Abstract:
The main purpose of this work is compare the effects of incorporation of (TiO2, Al2O3 and SiO2) nanoparticles on the phase structure, microstructure, and morphology of the nanocomposite coatings synthesized by electroless deposition technique. a design of experiments (DOE), the desirability-based Taguchi orthogonal array (OA), is designed and the influence of the factors are evaluated using analysis of variance (ANOVA). Desirability functions have been used for single optimization and multi-response optimization (multi-objective optimization). According to the single optimization results, the optimal parameters of (EN) coating process are (corrosion rate (0.120 mmpy), Nano material (SiO2), bath temperature (80°C), plating time (40min.), microhardness (516.2667 HV), bath temperature (100 °C), plating time (120 min.). From (ANOVA) results, it is observed that the Nano material has the most significance effect on the composite desirability of (EN) coating. (SEM) characterization showed that the surface of (EN) coatings is smooth, low porosity, and dense. Corrosion measurements have proven that the corrosion resistance of low carbon steel increases with the presence of (SiO2) Nano-particle.
