Abstract

The aim of the research is to study the capacitive properties of graphene with polymer materials. The work included the preparation of graphene in two different methods (two-dimensional graphene and three-dimensional graphene structure) with the preparation of two different types of nanocomposites (graphene/epoxy) and (graphene/polyurethane) by weight (1 wt%, 2 wt%, 3% wt, and 4 wt%) all prepared graphene materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Raman Spectroscopy. The (LCR) results showed that the addition of graphene to the polymer enhances the capacitive properties due to the graphene nanosheets resemble a micro capacitor was composed of nano capacitors.

After the discussion, the committee recorded its notes on the thesis, which were split between explanation and correction, and the student’s defense of his work and the discussion ended. The committee decided to evaluate the thesis and grant the student a master’s degree with a full grade.

Where the discussion took place in the Postgraduate Studies Hall in Building B in the department on Thursday 11/11/2021, and the discussion committee consisted of:

  1. Assist. Prof. Dr. Nahed Mahmoud Ali (Chairman)
  2. Prof. Dr. Jassim Mohammed Abdul Latif (Member)
  3. Assist. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Hussein Mohamed (Member)
  4. Prof. Dr. Kazem Matar Shabib (Supervisor and member)
  5. Assist. Prof. Dr. Aya Kazem Hassan (Supervisor and member)

The dissertation had evaluated scientifically by Assist. Prof. Dr. Ammar Imad Kazem/ University of Babylon/ College of Materials Engineering and Prof. Dr. Khaled Ajami Sukkar/ University of Technology/ Chemical Engineering Department, and linguistically by Senior Lecturer Dr. Naseer Abdul-Hussein Nasser/ University of Technology/ Materials Engineering Department.

Abstract

The main purpose of this work is to extend the service life of the heat exchanger by protecting the tubes by coating to reduce the fouling phenomenon and increase the corrosion resistance of these tubes, small samples were coated with epoxy and WO3 nanoparticles in different proportions, and these samples were subjected to a number of tests to study their properties before and after coating. Then the heat exchanger experiments of the uncoated tube, the epoxy coated tube and the epoxy and 1 wt% of WO3 nanoparticles were carried out to study the performance of the heat exchanger. The results proved that the tube coated with the nanocomposite coating is the most successful in reducing the expected problems.

After the discussion, the committee recorded its notes on the thesis, which were split between explanation and correction, and the student’s defense of her work and the discussion ended. The committee decided to evaluate the thesis and grant the student a master’s degree with a full grade.
