The Administrative Assistant to the University President, Prof. Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman, and under the direct supervision of the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Jawad Kazem Aliwi and the scientific assistant, Prof. Dr. Kazem Matar Shabib praised all the projects and praised the work of the students and their motivation for outstanding work in the projects.
The Biomaterials and Prosthetics Branch in the Materials Engineering Department conducts a scientific field visit
As part of the extracurricular activities of the Biomaterials and Prosthetics Engineering Branch, and based on the principle of enhancing the applied and practical aspect of the branch’s students, the Materials Engineering Department, Biological Materials and Prosthetics Engineering Branch, headed by the branch head, Prof. Dr. Sarmad Imad, and in the presence of Some members of the branch’s teaching staff, undertook a scientific field trip to Ibn Al-Qaf Hospital./ Baghdad Center for Prosthetic Limbs, on Monday, 3/4/2024, where we were received by the director of the center, Mr. Saleh Burhan, who explained and presented all the practical details, along with a group of specialized doctors.
The trip included getting acquainted with all the departments of the center and the stages that people with special needs (amputation) go through, including diagnosis, examination, determining the condition, then the manufacturing processes for the prosthetic limb, where the materials involved in the manufacture of prosthetic limbs and their specifications were identified, in addition to the obstacles and problems that could arise during the manufacturing process.
At the end of the scientific visit, the students were briefed on a number of cases and how to diagnose them and train them to use the prosthetic limb.
