The thesis study developing properties poly methyl methacrylate PMMA by using different types of natural fibers (Bamboos and swak fibers) as reinforcing phases. The fibers are treatment alkaline with sodium hydroxide to improving bonding between the matrix and fibers. Different weight fractions fibers’ (3, 6, 9) %wt., and different lengths, (2, 6, 12) mm, had been used to in this study. Mechanical properties include: tensile strength, elongation percentage, young modulus, bending modulus, fracture toughness, hardness, and roughness, physical properties include: density, water adsorption percentage, thermal properties, and other characteristic tests such as: FTIR, DSC, SEM, had been performed. The results show that tensile strength, young modulus, bending modulus, fracture toughness, maximum shear stress, hardness, water adsorption, thermal diffusion, and thermal conductivity increase with increasing fibers’ length and weight fraction for both types of natural fibers. On other hand impact resistance, specific heat, and density decrease with increasing fibers’ weight fraction, while elongation values at fracture decrease with increasing fibers’ length.

This thesis had been scientific evaluation by assistance Prof Dr. Mohsen Abed Allah Abed Hussein / Baghdad University / Engineering College/ Mechanical Department and linguistically by Prof Dr. Arkan Khalkhal Hussein / University of Technology/ Mechanical Department. The discussion of the thesis had been performed at the Fadul Attya hall, and the discussion’s committee agreed to award the student master degree.

Research published

On 10/10/2017 The International Scientific Journal of Engineering Research and its Applications in India Published in Issue No. 7, Vol. 10, part II research for lecturer Hind Bassel Ali teaching in the Department of Materials Engineering / University of Technology, the research was titled: Effect of fill density on compressive properties in molten precipitation modeling process The study examined the effect of the filling density of the samples in the molten deposition process. One of the three-dimensional printing techniques was applied to the compressive properties. It is shown that when increasing the fill density which is one of the variables of the molten precipitation modeling process.

Acknowledgments

On 19/10/2017, Prof. Dr. Amin Dauai Thamir, President of the University of Technology, gave a letter of thanks and appreciation of the number m.g / 9/1209 to each of Prof. Rana Afif Majid and Assist Prof. Alaa Hassan Ali teaching staff in Materials Engineering / University of Technology. In view of their efforts in supervising the graduate student (PhD) Ahmed Rajeh Hassan, which resulted in completion of the student requirements for study and research before the end of the specified period. The student was also given a certificate of appreciation by the President of the University due to his efforts during the research period.

On 23/10/2017 Assist Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Al-Ghabban-Head of Materials Engineering / Agency and Assist Prof. Dr. Emad Saadi Abdul Karim - Administrative Assistant met with representatives of the class for all stages in the preliminary study, where the discussion of several topics, the most important of which:

1 - Prepare a model for the uniforms of the Department of Materials Engineering with the identity of the department.

2 - Commitment to attend the study and respect the dates of lectures and review the schedule of absences on a regular basis.

3 - Review the website of the department on a continuous basis for the purpose of obtaining the lecture for each teaching, which is published on the site periodically and follow-up changes in them, The Head of the Department also stressed the need to adhere to the instructions for the prevention of the ready lecture and copies, and only to deliver the lecture.

4 - Preserving the public property in the department and abide by the instructions in addition to maintaining the cleanliness of the department, attention and reporting to the presence of strangers within the department.
