The Department of Materials Engineering at the University of Technology held an awareness and informative lecture entitled
"Health awareness among university students" in Al-Kindi Hall in the Department of Electromechanical Engineering at 10 am on Tuesday 17/5/2022 and it is one of the activities of the ninth cultural season. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Haitham Mikhlif Al-Obaidi and Dr. Hussein Mahdi Al-Beer. The lecture included the importance of health education by helping individuals solve the health problems they face and spreading sound health concepts among members of the community. The lecture also dealt with the most important points for solving behavioral problems by training students to solve them, data analysis, and the ability to lead and make decisions.
At the end of the lecture, certificates of appreciation were distributed to both lecturers by the Head of the Materials Engineering Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Hussein Alaa Jaber, the respected.
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Al-Ghabban, and under the supervision of the Head of the Department, The respected Asst. Prof. Dr. Hussein Alaa Jaber, the Department of Materials Engineering at the university held the ninth cultural season for the academic year 2021-2022 and for the period from 15-19/5/2022
Where the activities of the first day began with playing the national anthem and reading a verse from the Holy Quran. After that, a speech by the head of the department said that this cultural season will include various educational lectures, exhibitions of fine arts, an AutoCAD Drawings exhibition, charitable bazaar, and sports and intellectual competitions for students and showed that the main reason for holding this season because It opens horizons for our students to learn about their artistic and sports activities and to refine their creativity and innovations.
the first cultural session was launched per day of the season at was Chaired by the assistant lecturer Haider Basil Ali, which included one introductory lecture about the Al-Ain Foundation delivered by Professor Ali Karim, in which he presented a historical overview of the establishment of the Al-Ain Foundation and its launch to document the victims of martyrs and terrorism and the care of orphans within the file of orphans sponsorship and addressed the positions of the University of Technology in this The framework and its most humane name, which began more than 6 years ago, and which was called a good imprint, was launched by the students of the University of Technology.
In a related context, the Honorable President of the University inaugurated an exhibition of plastic arts, an AutoCAD exhibition for students, and a charity bazaar in the department.
The Department of Materials Engineering at the University of Technology awarded a master’s degree to the student Nariman Hussain Muhammad, Department of Materials Engineering/ University of Technology for her thesis Titled:

After the Members of discussion committee recorded its observations on the thesis, which were between explanation and correction and the student’s defense of her Thesis and the end of the discussion, the committee decided to evaluate the thesis, and decided to grant the student a master’s degree with a Pass grade.
Abstract:
Dielectric ceramics are the basic building block of every electronic device, especially for high-temperature applications, and enhancing its dielectric constant, dielectric loss polarization and a high electric breakdown strength plays a key role in producing advanced electronic components. So according to these facts, a new technique is used in this work to improve the dielectric properties of ceramics. This technique involves adding nano and micro (PbZrxTi1-xO3) Lead Zirconate Titanate PZT ceramic powders to the glaze layer of porcelain the dielectric strength for the glazed porcelain showed an increase of up to 30 wt % of the PZT additives in both nano and practical micro. Dielectric constant ԑ", Dielectric loss tangent tan δ and AC.conductivity showed an increase after glazing with nano-PZT higher than in micro-PZT.
The Department of Materials Engineering at the University of Technology awarded a master’s degree to the student Noor Muhammad Salih, Department of Materials Engineering/ University of Technology, for her thesis Titled:
"Biostimulation of a mineral substrate by the use of natural materials"
Bio-Functionalization of Metallic substrate Using natural bio-materials
Where the discussion took place in the Graduate Studies Hall in Building C in the department on Monday, 3/28/2021 at eleven in the morning, and the discussion committee consisted of following:
1. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Al-Ghabban ,as Chairmen
2. Prof.Dr. Nawal Mohamed Daoud, as a Member
3. Lect. Dr. Muhannad Najah Jawad as Member
4. Prof. Dr. Aseel Bassem Abdul-Hussein as a Supervising member
5. Asst.Prof .DR. Fatima Jaafar Muhammad as a Supervising member
As well as evaluating the message scientifically by Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahim Kazem Abd Ali/ University of Babylon/ College of Materials Engineering, and Asst. Prof.Dr. Ali Ebadi Latif/ University of Technology/ Department of Applied Sciences, and linguistically by Asst. Prof. Zainab Naef Rashid/ University of Technology/ Department of Applied Sciences.
After the discussion committee recorded its observations on the thesis, which were between explanation and correction and the student’s defense of her Thesis and the discussion the committee decided to evaluate the thesis, and decided to grant the student a master’s degree with a Pass Grade.
Abstract:
In this research, the focus was on preparing green implants with biocompatibility and appropriate mechanical properties, in addition to improving their anti-inflammatory properties. Hydroxyapatite was extracted from natural sources (eggshells, fish bones and cockle shells) by calcination method. For the first group, natural hydroxyapatite was mixed with a prepared natural polymer (aloe Vera gel + alginate), stainless steel samples were then coated. For the second group, mastic was added to the coating material. The results proved that the implant has biological properties, as the result of MTT shows an increase in the availability of cells for all samples. The tests also proved that these implants have anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties, and the addition of the mastic led to an improvement in the inhibition of bacteria and fungi.
